Are There COVID Travel Restrictions in Cancun?

Last year, COVID-19 devastated the spring break travel industry in Cancun, Mexico. Although there were travel warnings from the United States; only the land border was closed entering Mexico.
Flights to Cancun were reduced but never stopped.
Travelers entering Mexico during COVID 2021
On the Airplane
While you are on your airplane to Cancun you may be given two forms to fill out. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic most commercial airlines no longer hand out immigration forms. Now, it is much easier to fill out these forms online so you do not delay your immigration process when your arrive in Mexico.
All foreign travelers entering Mexico must complete the Official Entry Immigration Form (FMM) prior to arrival for each individual traveler and one Customs Declaration form for the entire family traveling.
The Official Entry Immigration Form is also known as the "Tourist Card" and can be filled out online and printed before you leave your home. This online registration is very convenient and straightforward. All you need is your passport, flight information, address where you are staying and a printer to print the tourist card.
If you register online, your information is already in the system at Immigration inside Mexico. The Immigration Officer will just need to stamp what you have already printed and that is it. Keep this stamped Tourist Card with your passport because you will need it to return through security when you leave Mexico.
Cancun International Airport has been receiving travelers during the whole pandemic. They are experienced on how to properly handle travelers and traveling during a pandemic.
The authorities inside the Cancun Airport were the first to implement procedures to detect probable cases of COVID-19 in travelers arriving from abroad starting last March 15, 2020.
They installed thermal imaging cameras in all international arrival terminals where passengers traveling on commercial flights from other countries arrived. These sanitary filters are still operating today.
Cancun Airport Arrivals
When you arrive in Cancun, you will be directed to go through the Immigration. This is where you will get your tourist card stamped.
After immigration you will pick up your luggage and then proceed through customs. This is where you will need to make any declarations of items over $500 that you are bringing into Mexico.
Transportation from the Airport to our Vacation Rentals
We highly recommend that if you are not renting a car, you book your transportation to our vacation rentals in advance.
We use USA Transfer for our transportation needs. They follow all Federal, State and Local guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID and have always been at the airport when we expected them.
A regular van that can hold up to three people with their luggage round trip to and from the airport is $55.
Use Oleo Playa Cancun Resort as your hotel name, this will bring you right to our vacation rentals.
Before you return
