No more COVID-19 Testing Required
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention longer requires air travelers to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country. The requirement was lifted at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on June 12, 2022 according to the CDC Website.
This travel rule change comes after over a year of the Biden administration requiring a negative test for entry into the United States and after more than two years since the pandemic began.
The previous entry requirement was to receive a negative test result of a coronavirus test no more than one day before boarding a flight back into the United States.
Before you leave for your trip to Cancun
Before you travel to Cancun, make sure that you are up to date with the United States COVID-19 testing requirement because in the last two years it has changed often. Check with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for the current COVID19 travel requirements.
Get Tested Anyway
Even though testing is not a requirement, you might want to consider testing yourself for a current infection before leaving for Cancun, and then possibly again while you are in Cancun. We really do not know when or if the CDC is going to change the rules again. So, consider yourself extra cautious. The CDC website still recommends getting tested before boarding a flight to the United States for a current infection with a viral test as close to the time of departure as possible (no more than 3 days) before travel.
Purchasing a COVID-19 Test kit and bringing it with you to Cancun is a diligent idea.
Tourists visiting Cancun for their summer vacation are being warned to exercise caution after the state of Quintana Roo received more than 1,800 new COVID-19 infections, prior to this, their largest number of positive cases was recorded on Friday June 24th 2022.
These figures reported are at the highest level in over three months.
Airline Passengers Are Still Required
All air passengers entering the United States are still required to provide contact information to their airlines before boarding a flight to the United States.
The CDC states that this requirement is strengthening their ability to identify and contact people who may have been exposed to a communicable disease, to help keep the public safe.
This “contact information” or in their own other words “appropriate health and public health information” is shared with United States Federal, State and Local Health Departments and their agencies.
What Information is Required
Passengers, including those only traveling through the United States to another country, must provide: their full name, address while in the United States, primary contact phone number, secondary or emergency contact phone number and email address.
Who is required
This order applies to all airlines arriving in the United States from a foreign point of origin.
The Cancun International Airport Still Requires Masks
