2026 Cancun hotel zone map otherwise known as the number 7
The Cancun Hotel Zone is one long main road shaped like the number “7” named K'uk'ulkan, also spelled Kukulkan Avenue or Blvd Kukulcan.
Blvd Kukulkan derived its name from a feathered serpent deity of Maya mythology. The feathered serpent Kukulcan whose name means just that: feathered (k'uk'ul) and serpent (kan) was a creator god, and the god of rain, wind, storms, and life.
The entire road is 25 kilometers long. Each kilometer offers a different experience, which is why choosing the right area matters when booking a vacation rental in Cancun.
Along the center of the road there are kilometer marker numbers at every half and full kilometer. They are shaped like concrete tombstones. The begining of the kilometer numbers starts at the top right side of the 7 and then moves east and down the ocean side.

The North Hotel Zone or the top of the 7
The Northwest part of the number “7” is the starting point at Kilometer number 0.
It begins at the intersection of Avenue Bonampak and Blvd. Kukulkan and then travels slightly south east toward the ocean. At Kilometer 0 you will find Kilometro 0 Park, the entrance to the north Cancun Hotel Zone.
This park was remodeled in 2021 and is a nice place to start the red jogging/roller blading/walking path. There is free onsite parking if you have rented a car. You will find many locals working out, and sometimes they have free outdoor zumba classes.
Fun fact
The Maya was the first to include the number zero in all the Americas. However, to them in Mayan mathematics, the number zero did not mean something of no value; rather it is equal to the value of infinity.
From the top of the seven is Kilometer 0 to Kilometer 9. This stretch of the hotel zone is often refered to as the north zone. Their are hotels on either side of the road. Those on the south side of the road face the Nichupte Lagoon and those on the north side of the road face Isla Mujeres and the bay area.
At kilometer 1 you will find the Marina Puerto Cancun an upscale shopping dining and entertainment complex.
Along the top of the 7 you will find many free public beaches like:
- Playa Las Perlas (kilometer 2)
- Playa Tortugas (kilometer 6.5)
- Playa Caracol (kilometer 9)
