Have you been thinking about traveling to Cancun?
Hi, I am Tim's wife Megan. I have been traveling solo to Cancun since Tim had a terrible fall in 2014 where he injured his spinal cord and was directed by his Surgeon not to travel on an airplane again.
Of course my husband does not listen to his Dr. but that is another story I'll share later.
My first trip to Mexico I was extremely anxious. I had never traveled alone to this country before. I had visited Cancun with Tim and the kids before, and also one time with my Mom, that too is another story to tell later.
We live north of Chicago Illinois. If you were to ask me if I feel safe while going into Chicago by myself, I would answer - of course I do. Living in Illinois we already know the areas to stay away from and we are familiar with how the local law enforcement works.
But Cancun is not Chicago. Cancun is much safer than Chicago, so I was not worried about crime while traveling there. I was mostly anxious about the unknown.
- What was was the flight going to be like
- What do I do when I get to customs
- After that how do I get a rental car, and oh by the way
- where is the Condo . . .
There was so much for me to be anxious about.
As soon as I walked out the airport I felt completely welcomed.
Most people at the airport speak English and Spanish, and everyone I have met in the travel industry in Mexico speaks English.
