What to Expect on a Snorkeling Trip in Cancun
Last Updated on March 24, 2026 by Megan
One of the most common questions I get from guests staying at our vacation rentals in Cancun is simple.
“What is the snorkeling trip actually like?”
Your day begins with a simple transfer from the resort to the marina, where your snorkeling trip starts. From there, everything is designed to feel easy.
Over the years, I have helped many guests plan their snorkeling day while staying at Tim’s Ocean Condos. This is exactly what you can expect.
What is a snorkeling trip in Cancun like?
A snorkeling trip in Cancun typically includes pickup from the resort, a transfer to the marina, a boat ride, multiple snorkeling stops, and time to relax between locations. When you go out with Mike from Tim’s Ocean Condos, everything is organized for you.
Quick Overview of the Experience
- Pickup from the resort
- Transfer to the marina
- Boat ride to snorkeling areas
- Multiple stops in calm, clear water
- Snorkel gear and life jackets provided

- Golf cart time on Isla Mujeres

Easy transfer to the marina
Your snorkeling day starts with pickup from the resort. You do not need to wait in the lobby for the driver. They will contact you on your cell phone once they arrive.
From there, you are taken to the marina where the boats depart. This part feels easy because there is nothing to figure out on your own.
What makes this snorkeling trip different
This is not a large corporate tour. When you go out with Mike, the experience feels relaxed, flexible, and personal.
Mike takes guests to beautiful snorkeling areas with clear water and active marine life. Some of these areas are protected, which makes the experience feel even more special.
There is also a shallow area where guests can stand and easily look underwater. This part is especially good for younger kids and first-time snorkelers.
Stop at Isla Mujeres
As part of your day, you will visit Isla Mujeres. Lunch is included there, which gives everyone a nice break from the water.
Mike also makes every effort to include a golf cart rental so guests can explore the island. The usual time is about one hour, which is enough to see scenic overlooks and stop at a few local shops.
There may also be an option to add an extra hour for a small fee when you arrive at the port.
